Believe it or not we are finding out that there are still some transmission re-builders that are choosing not to bore and sleeve the cases as part of their rebuild process. Some consider that aftermarket modifications and they don't do it. We are hearing this from some of our customers who put a rebuild in before they found out about our kit. These are also coming from some very reputable places.
This is just a heads up as we do not want people to put transmissions in without knowing it was rebuilt properly. So if you go this route make sure they are boring and sleeving used cases, or using new cores. Andy

Hello Andy, I recently purchased a 2004 Explorer Limited only after I found your product and read all of the positive feedback. One thing I have noticed is that the transmission makes a winning sound when driven, it comes from the front of the transmission, or so it seems. My question is, have any of your test vehicles, or customers using your product have this same noise and had it go away once the kit was installed. I purchased this truck for $500 and it is in awesome shape, inside and out and would love to get this baby running strong. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks Eddie

With worn bores there really is no whining sound associated with it. However sometime the snap ring that holds the planetary gear assembly gear together can break which makes it rub on the sun shell. That could be what is going on. I would recommend a 1st step of dropping the pan and looking for signs of damage like metal shavings.

Thank you for your quick response, although I do have hands on automotive mechanical experience, my transmission experience is minimal. I will look at the pan for shavings. However, if there are excessive shavings, do you feel in your professional opinion that it would be best just to replace the entire trans? Or are there any other avenues I can take or look into. I am kind of limited to places to go for advice as I know that there are many places out there that are quick to try and get a new trans out of you. How ever judging by the MANY positive comments on your site and Facebook I feel that you would be good source of information. Thanks again.

If you find metal shavings in the pan you are looking at rebuild or re-manufactured. However with the book this is not a bad transmission to rebuild on your own if you have the time.

Thank you Andy, time isn't much of an issue, but space is for a trans rebuild. I will check the pan and take it from there. I wanted to confirm this winning noise first before installing your kit, you helped me a great deal. Thanks.
